Power

St Vincent Electricity Services Ltd (VINLEC) is a state-owned utility company with an exclusive license to provide a public electricity supply to the islands of St Vincent, Bequia, Canouan, Union Island and Mayreau. It was established in 1931. Some of SVG’s islands are privately owned and generate their own electricity. On the island of Mustique, for example, the Mustique Company provides day-to-day services including utilities and power generation. It is a limited private company on a long-term lease from the government, which is owned by islanders.

Water

The Central Water and Sewerage Authority is SVG’s only provider of piped clean water and sewage services. It is also responsible for solid waste management services throughout the country. The authority is a statutory corporation established in 1970, whose authority is now mandated in the Central Water and Sewerage Authority Act of 1991.
