Coalition of Support for St Kitts–Nevis Security Initiatives improves policing

An initiative to assist the development of security services in St Kitts and Nevis has seen the formation of the Coalition of Support for St Kitts–Nevis Security Initiatives (CSSKNSI) to provide funding and support to increase the standard of safety and security levels across the country, as well as improve the efficiency of government-provided policing. In 2011, CSSKNSI held a donation ceremony in support of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force. As part of the ceremony, the coalition donated various resources to the police force, including ICT equipment and body armour. Further support was provided in 2012 in the supply of specialised police trainers for a seminar.

Public-Private Partnerships

PPPs

There are numerous examples of collaboration between the Government of St Kitts and Nevis and private businesses. In the health sector, in particular, co-operation between the government and private companies has been widespread, for example private pharmacies are able to receive tax breaks on the purchase of insulin, which in turn reduces the cost for the consumer. In recent years, public–private partnerships have been brought to the forefront of government discussion, particularly with regard to stimulating economic growth in the country following the global economic downturn. In light of this, the government has developed a National Competiveness Council to institutionalise public–private partnerships under the Private Sector Development Strategy.
